Direct-zol™ RNA Kits – RNA from TRIzol® without phase separation
The Direct-zol RNA kits simplify the purification of DNA-free, high-quality total RNA (including miRNAs) directly from samples stored in TRIzol, TRI Reagent®, or other acid-guanidinium-phenol-based reagents. By eliminating phase separation and precipitation steps, the Direct-zol process saves time and prevents phenol carryover while preserving RNA quality. The kits combine the sample preservation and infectious agent inactivation capabilities of TRI Reagent with a user-friendly, clean, and convenient approach to RNA purification. The Direct-zol 96 MagBead RNA Kit is a high-throughput adaptation of Direct-zol™ technology, featuring a magnetic bead format that enables easy automation of the procedure.

For unbiased lysis of microbes and/or solid tissue in TRIzol, use ZR BashingBead™ Lysis Tubes for efficient homogenization of hard-to-lyse samples prior to RNA purification with the Direct-zol RNA kit. These lysis tubes (S6003 for animal and plant tissue, S6012 for microbes, S6014 for microbes in tissue/insects) are 2.0 ml screwcap tubes with high-density, fracture-resistant, chemically inert ceramic beads and are used upstream for the disruption of hard-to-lyse samples. Simply collect your sample in TRIzol, transfer the lysate into a Lysis Tube and perform mechanical homogenization (high-speed bench homogenizer adapted for 2.0 ml tubes). Then process the TRIzol lysate with the Direct-zol RNA kit by binding directly to the spin-column, wash and elute.
Quick-RNA™ Kits
Quick-RNA™ kits deliver rapid, precise, and phenol-free purification of total RNA (including small RNAs ≥ 17 nt) from a variety of sample types. They are specifically designed to isolate total RNA (≥17 nt), large RNA (≥200 nt), or small RNA (17–200 nt) efficiently. With the included Zymo-Spin™ Column and Plate technologies, users can achieve highly concentrated samples in elution volumes as low as 6 μl. The kits contain Zymo Research's Spin-Away™ Filter to remove most of the genomic DNA and feature in-column DNase I treatment. DNase I is included in every kit to ensure DNA-free RNA.
